One sitting or a daily return
The KYOTOEIC exam asks you to interpret the intent behind a remark in 30 situations. It suits a visit when you want to finish a challenge and see a score and category breakdown. Questions are drawn from a bank of 300 with a balance of categories and difficulty, rather than a fixed sequence.
KYOTO SURVIVAL is a conversation game with one decision per day. Meet neighbors, friends and people at local shops, then return for another scene. Exam scores and Survival streaks are separate. Neither measures Japanese proficiency or your real social skills.
Read the situation in a language you know
Choose Japanese, English or Korean to read situations, dialogue and choices in that language. In the exam, you can also expand the Japanese original. Politeness does not translate word for word; our editing aims to preserve what a speaker is asking for, agreeing to or declining.
Start with the facts on the page rather than inventing a secret motive. Who proposed what? What action would answer the final remark? If you are not ready for a full exam, try the public examples on the home page and in these guides.
What happens to my result?
For a first exam, enter a nickname and choose a reply for each situation. Use Previous and Next to revisit a question you are unsure about. Before submitting, check the confirmation screen for unanswered questions. Once submitted, you cannot change your answers to revise the score.
The exam needs only a nickname for your certificate. On submission, the server grades the answers and saves the score, grade and category results. You can preview a portrait A4 certificate and save it as PNG or PDF. Its QR code verifies an issued game result; it does not establish a professional qualification.
Access to your private exam result depends on the browser cookie. Save your certificate before clearing cookies or starting another exam. Google sign-in is for Survival: it does not automatically collect past guest exam scores into an account.
Play for free, with no obligation
The exam, results, certificates and Survival remain available whether or not you support the project. Donations do not unlock answers or score bonuses. You can begin as a guest without signing in.
If a sentence is unclear or a translation feels wrong, follow the contact guide and email the page URL, language and phrase. Do not post answers from an ongoing exam publicly or send passwords or sign-in cookies. Corrections are saved in a new version; completed attempts keep their original scores.
Where would you like to start?
Try one scene in public practice: choose a reply and compare the explanations. For 30 questions in one sitting, head to the exam guide. To build a diary one scene a day, start with the Survival introduction.
